Storage in store at Little Honeys

We love helping clients find the perfect pieces for their children's spaces.  Check out the secret storage under this adorable table!

Speaking of storage, we love this bench for a mudroom!  It is a quick hideaway for the kids' backpacks!

These gorgeous pieces offer versatile and ample storage for a growing child.

A white finish offers a feminine touch to such a large piece!  We love the two small drawers up top-they punctuate the dresser and are practical for small pieces.

We cherish pieces that function both now and later.  This changing table easily converts to a small dresser (though we'd love to see it double as a bar for deserving parents-ha!).

Sweet saving to you!

Fall Runway at Honeysuckle

This may be one of my personally favorite fall fashion seasons ever!  The trends are totally wearable, figure-flattering, and refurbished.  Classic looks like leather and animal print were all over the runways, and the color of the year, green, debuted in rich, deep hues.  They may be hot for the season, but I have no doubt that these looks will be investments you'll be wearing for seasons to come!

So here is a "Top 10" of this fall's must-haves, and the looks that I found at Honeysuckle.

1.  GRAY!  Not everything is black and white, and whether you're sporting a chunky gray sweater, a gray coat, or patterned pants, this cloudy color speaks fall!

2.  LEATHER!  You don't have to ride a Harley to wear leather this season.  From leather pants to oversized moto jackets, leather is a must-have this season.  If it intimidates you, try wearing leather-trimmed tops or leggings just to add that extra edge to your outfit.

3.  PATTERN!  Geometric, floral, and classic patterns like houndstooth bring interest to your look.  Just remember to not overdo it!  Layering patterns is fun, but don't overwhelm the outfit.  And if you have to mix, stick to one color group.

Scarves are an EASY way to add fun patterns to an outfit

4.  GREEN!  Pantone's color of the year made a huge impact in fall-friendly shades.  Deep army greens and emerald packed the runways with energy and radiance!

5.  BLOCKING!  The color blocking of spring did an about-face with neutrals!  Block colors like black, gray, white, and cream for a fall-appropriate spin on color blocking.

6.  PASTORAL!  Perhaps my favorite trend, the pastoral look, is brown, cream, and fall all over!  Bring out your chunky knits, brown leather boots, fur, and tweed for a look that is cozy and classic!

7.  TUX STYLE!  On the other end of the fashion spectrum, we have luxe tux-a trend we are loving for work and evening.  White blouses and tailored black pants and skirts flatter the feminine figure with masculine edge.

8.  BOOTIES!  The short boots make a come-back this fall.  Wear your booties or bootlets with neutral tights or skinny jeans, or go bold in a skirt with bare legs.

9. JEWELRY!  Dazzle in statement necklaces, gold, and STACKED rings, necklaces, and bracelets.

10.  HATS!  From fedoras to pom-pom topped beanies, hats are one of the hottest looks for fall.  Choose what is right for your style and have fun with it!

The Perfect Study Space

As the school year quickly approaches (bitter-sweet, we know), take this last month of summer to create a productive homework and study space for your child.

START with finding the right spot.  An area of low-traffic yet easy accessibility and monitoring is key.  You don’t need a large space, and even a kitchen nook or corner space in a quiet room will work.  Most importantly, keep the study space away from the television or other distractions.

NEXT, choose the right furniture for the space.  Choose a work space that can accommodate task lighting, larger homework projects, and storage of supplies and books.  What is the right style for your student?

FINALLY, stock the homework area with supplies:  pencils, pens, erasers, calculators, art supplies, a dictionary, note cards, highlighters, paper, scissors, and markers.

Creating a personal study space allows for a manageable homework routine, sets the tone and expectation for success, and will show your child that his or her learning is a high priority in your home.

HONEYSUCKLE will work with you to find the perfect desk or work space!  With knowledgeable designers, new inventory arriving daily, and our amazing prices, your homework space is sure to make the grade.

In Living Color

Whether you love a fresh, preppy look or you're looking to have at least one thing in your closet that isn't black, summer is the perfect time to add color to your wardrobe.  Here are a few subtle and bold ways to liven up your look.

1.  A scarf!  Tie a pretty scarf around a handbag, your hair, your waist, or around your neck as God intended it.  You'd be amazed what it can do to a plain t-shirt or a pair of jean shorts.

We love this cobalt blue scarf tied to a cream bag and popped with turquoise and orange accents.  That blue scarf takes the handbag from cute to rich in seconds.

2.  Speaking of handbags, they make color super easy and fun!  Don't worry about being matchy-matchy with your outfit; matching your handbag to your shoes is blasé these days.  Imagine the statement this pretty Trina Turk (the girl knows her color combinations) handbag could make with a black or chocolate brown dress.

For all-season color, opt for stripes rather than floral.  Red leather accents give this colorful purse timeless appeal.

What a difference the kelly green handles make on this Coach bag.  Definitely a summer bag, its rope patterned fabric would bring Chesapeake charm to a white ensemble.

3.  Belts!  Cinch your dress or color block your look without looking like a clown.  A pretty belt, or even a scarf worn as a belt adds interest and shape to your wardrobe.  Imagine this adorable outfit without the fun of its red belt.

4.  Jewelry punctuates an outfit with both style and mood.  Bright baubles add energy to your look.

5.  Still feeling shy about color?  How about some bright shoes?  These yellow satin shoes ring femininity and are easily paired with black, white, or denim for a flirty look.

We also love the pops of red in these nautical little ballet flats.

6.  Finally, you can go bold by choosing bold fabrics and prints.  The late Lilly Pulitzer brought bright colors to her collections, and with that generations of women dressing with youthful elegance.  Think Jackie Kennedy (a Lilly fan herself):  chic sophistication.

We hope you're inspired to liven things up in your wardrobe!
